Chelgal Farm

The Project Demonstration and Development Farm, Chelgal, Karimnagar District was established in 1975 and it is under  the control of WALAMTARI since 1984 located in the heart of S.R.S.P. command, Chelgal, Jagtial.

Objectives

To demonstration suitable crops and cropping pattern to the farmers under S.R.S.P. command area. To conduct the suitability of Minikit Trials. To transfer the practical Technology and crop management practices for increasing the Agriculture production.

Climate

The farm is in semi and tropic with extreme cold and hot weather condition

Rainfall

The normal rainfall in the area is 1043.00 mm as against normal 1352.42 mm rainfall received during this year upto February-2011.

Cropping Pattern

 The following is the cropping pattern:

  • Kharif Season: - Paddy, Maize, Red gram, Black gram & Green gram.
  • Rabi Season   : - Paddy, Maize.

Topography

The farm is full of undulated drains with rolling topography. About (3) natural drain channels passing through this farm. The slope of the land ranges from 1.5 to 3.0% and the direction of the slope is South to North.

Soils

The soils are clay loamy to clay sand. The Fertility status of the soils is poor in Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Moderate with K20.
