The Institute has faculty from two major streams connected with Irrigated Agriculture i.e. Irrigation Engineering and Agriculture. Faculty from both these streams is mainly practicing professionals and hence their inputs are straight from the field and hence more practical and hands-on. There are 22 faculty members and a vast pool of resource persons from the institutions arround. In addition, WALAMTARI has collaboration from professional engineering bodies like the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), National Construction Academy (NAC), etc. WALAMTARI is in the process of developing a pool of Roving Trainers (RT) from out of practicing farmers and engineers for more effective and enlarged practical capacity building at local level.
Campus and facilities
WALAMTARI has fairly decent infrastructure with three class rooms, one mini auditorium and a main auditorium for conducting classes and workshops/seminars. A computer lab serves the purpose of IT related trainings. These and the faculty rooms are all located in the Administrative building. Trainees are accommodated in a Hostel and residential quarters in a home like environment. At present, there is accommodation for about 100 trainees. Residential quarters are also available to the staff and faculty. A library with nearly 7,000 titles serves the academic needs of the faculty and the trainees. It is equipped with Lib Sys package for efficient search and retrieval of references. Very soon additional space would be available for the faculty and staff by adding a second floor to the administrative building. A first class accommodation would be available for the trainees once the proposed new Hostel is completed increasing the accommodation capacity to about 150 and relieving some of the quarters.
